Term 3 - 2026

Highfields Community Church
Young Adults Life Group - Term 3 'Serve'

Welcome to Highfields Community Church Young Adults Life Group!

Our theme for 2026 is RiSE — Renew, Impact, Serve, Empower.

This term, we're exploring the "S" — SERVE.

In a world that often encourages us to put ourselves first, Jesus offers a radically different way of living. He said, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve" (Mark 10:45). Through His life, death and resurrection, Jesus showed us that true greatness is found not in status, power, or recognition, but in humble service.

Over the next four sessions, we'll discover that serving is much more than volunteering or helping out occasionally. Biblical service is one of God's primary ways of shaping our character, strengthening relationships, building healthy communities, and advancing His Kingdom. We'll explore what it means to serve like Jesus, how service transforms marriage and relationships, how God has gifted each of us to serve, and why every believer has a role to play in ministry.

Whether you're new to church, new to faith, or have been following Jesus for years, our hope is that this term will encourage you to see service not as an obligation, but as a joyful response to God's love and grace.

Come ready for great conversations, genuine community, practical application, plenty of fun, and opportunities to grow together as we learn what it means to serve one another humbly in love.

Theme Verse:
"Serve one another humbly in love." — Galatians 5:13

Week 1 — The Servant King

14 July 2026
Scripture: Mark 10:45; Galatians 5:13

Jesus redefined greatness by serving others. In our opening session, we'll explore how Christ's example challenges our view of success, leadership, and purpose. We'll discover that biblical service is not about earning God's favour, but responding to His love by serving others with humility and compassion.

Week 2 — Servant Marriage

28 July 2026
Guest Speakers: Pieter & Ceciel Geldenhuis

What does service look like within one of God's most important relationships? Pieter and Ceciel will share insights into biblical marriage, commitment, sacrifice, and how serving one another strengthens healthy relationships. While focused on marriage, the principles of selfless love and service apply to all relationships.

Week 3 — Gifted to Serve

11 August 2026
Scripture: Romans 12:1–8

God has uniquely gifted every believer for a purpose. This week we'll explore how our gifts, abilities, personalities, and experiences can be used to serve others and build God's Kingdom. There are no spectators in the body of Christ—everyone has something valuable to contribute.

Week 4 — Ministry for Everyone

25 August 2026
Scripture: 1 Peter 2:4–12

Many people think ministry is only for pastors or church leaders, but Scripture teaches that every follower of Jesus is called to ministry. We'll discover our identity as God's people and explore practical ways we can serve both within the church and in our everyday lives.

Week 5 — Social Night

8 September 2026

A relaxed night to celebrate the end of the term together. We'll enjoy food, board games, great conversations, and time to connect as a community while reflecting on what we've learned throughout the term.
